UMS has an established three year performing cycle. For two years, students participate in a musical performance, and then the third year they partake in an artist-in-residency. Last year, UMS students experienced a dance residency with Up North Dance Studio. Students enjoyed five days of dance instruction that was video-recorded and shared virtually with all. This year is a musical year. We have dates lined up for April, 2023. Stay tuned for more details!
The last musical UMS students performed was in February 2020, just before Covid hit. We presented the mini-musical "On With The Snow!" by John Jacobson and John Higgins. Since it has been a few years, our April 2023 performances will be a brand new experience for all UMS students!
Throughout the school year students also participate in whole school meetings or assemblies. This is a great opportunity for students to practice proper audience etiquette, as well as practice and perform for the school community. In December each year, students participate in a whole school Sing-Along which includes multicultural songs of the season. This event is an in-school special event, but due to space limitations is not open to the public. We will live-stream it through Facebook.
